While I am sorry for the awkward and frustrating interactions, I laughed pretty hard about your story about the locker room incident. So funny. Thanks for sharing this great story!
I'm glad you got a kick out of it. You gotta laugh right? Dark humor is my favorite. I got that from hanging around the Irish and reading the likes of Frank McCourt and Roddy Doyle.
Yes, laughter makes life immensely better. I have a very funny story about something that happened when I was at the local gym swimming pool one time. It developed into a complete fiasco involving paramedics and all of us dripping wet outside waiting for the firemen to let us back in.
the beauty and wonder of these substack newsletters is that they provide a platform to say whatever you want, to put your voice out there into the world, and people and comment (pro or con) and there's a civil discourse and conversation.
sometimes i'm disappointed when there's no response, but i've now published about 50 articles over two years and there's over 300 subscribers and followers so people are reading my posts and there's about a dozen of regular commenters.
But where else can we just say what we want, tell our own stories, and put it out into the world. For free.
My advice to anyone is just keeping posting. This is YOUR platform to express YOUR voice. Don't be afraid. Be fearless.
As a fair haired blue eyed girl I NEVER fit in. I was a Tomboy and loved math. I was not misgendered but called other things. In women beauty is currency in society. Or the vision of what a woman should be is currency.
Golda Meir would say she relied on her resources. Due to her looks she was told many a time you are the best man for the job.
To see what occurred in Paris Olympics in 2024 it’s evident we haven’t come far.
I'm so sorry you had to deal with such jerky behavior. Moral: Mind one's own biz and don't make assumptions!
Thank you Sandra! You know the old adage assume makes an ass out of U and Me! Indeed!
Absolutely LOVED that story Dor. Mistaking you for a young girl I can understand. But for a boy NO FECKING WAY.
Thank you Uncle Jer, I don't get it but you know folks be weird. LOL

I will sometime. I have shared the story when I have done some speaking. I might just record it as a video here eventually. 😊
You should write it!
great story, Doreen, and so timely.
I think every time Trump insults Kamala Harris, he's driving women voters over to the Dems.
I've collected a list of his insults here (https://kamala4prez.substack.com/p/teflon-kamala) but luckily we're in a new time zone and none of his insults are sticking.
But I'm sure they're infuriating women everywhere.
Enough of the ignorant old boys club.
Thank you Abraham! I was scared to hit the "publish" button.

Thank you for the encouragement. I'm learning every day.

Excellent read and appreciated.
Thank you Cynthia! I hope we finally break free of this oppressive way of thinking about how people should look.
I hope so.
Thank you for raising awareness. I'm sorry you had those negative experiences.
